I am off to San Francisco for the long weekend... hoping the weather is nice for sailing on the bay, exploring some of my favorite neighborhoods, and taking in the Slow Food Nation events. The Ferry Plaza building and farmer's market (and Slanted Door, yum!) is one of my favorite places in the city, so it will be fun to see it brought to life even more.
Also, starting next week, in honor of Labor Day and my desire to cling to summer, I am going to have a series of Nautical posts. I have been saving my favorites in this category for so long that it is finally time to channel my inner sailor/South of France girl and post them here. I hope you enjoy!

BIRTHDAY BRIT
In honor of my favorite Brit's birthday, I thought I would share some Union Jack design inspiration from one of my other favorite Brits... Ben Sherman. (Not that there is even a close comparison.)
Happy Birthday DB!!

HOUSE OF CARDS
Since we couldn't make it to the show... I thought I'd bring the show to my blog. House of Cards by Radiohead has quickly become one of my all-time favorite songs... it is just so beautiful.
If you are seeing them at the Santa Barbara Bowl tonight... lucky you! If you are not, apparently they will have a live webcast here.

ABSENCE OF WATER

I find these Absence of Water photographs of abandoned England pools to be quite beautiful and nostalgic. They remind me of here, which belongs to another era. {via maisonette. Images copyright Gigi Cifali}

LE SAINT
Vintage book covers for Le Saint, the French version of Leslie Charteris' classic The Saint series. I haven't read any of the books, but these French paperbacks have me intrigued.

Beautiful SUMMER WHITES from Marie Claire Maison. {via this is glamorous}
THIS GAME is marginally addictive. THIS GAME is marginally therapeutic.
Lovely new LETTERPRESS shop.

KRISATOMIC

Had to share these. Lovely light photos taken in Russia by Londoner Krisatomic. I just found her blog and by page two was smitten by her travel photos. {Images copyright Krisatomic}

BEHIND THE CURTAIN
Who would have known that perhaps the cutest thing about Kate Spade is the journal portion of her website.... it is well organized and stocked full of great little finds. I sure would love to find that bright blue dala horse (or is it a trojan horse?) bookend... {Images via Kate Spade}
NEW WAYNE PATE
Wayne Pate has released two new posters, "Fluers de Mouille," based on the lighting creations by Serge Mouille. Love that shade of blue!

KENLEY COLLINS
It may not have been the best choice for the Olympic theme (or the judges' favorite), but I am in love with this skirt by Kenley in the latest episode of Project Runway.

OLD SCHOOL

I am loving the Lilypad Lounge shop that is filled with recycled ephemera; especially the vintage math and language flashcards.

À LA MER

I cannot believe that it is already August... and I would not mind spending the last of the long summer days in the South of France. {photographs}
