Two things I love: well-done house numbers and the incredible eye of photographer/blogger Sandra Juto (aka Smosch).

INBOX LOVE
I highly recommend signing up for the email list of UK retailer Toast. Then you can receive beautiful little photos (and accompanying video) in your inbox to brighten your day. Their summer ad campaign (filmed primarily in Crete) will make you want to pack up and go...

RODGER STEVENS
In all the coverage I've seen of ICFF, another standout in my eyes is designer Rodger Stevens who creates some amazingly detailed wire works. I especially love his lighting projects, exhibited with Abingdon 12 Gallery. {Image via New York Magazine}May 21, 2009
HACOA
Japanese design company Hacoa left a big impression on the just-wrapped 2009 NY Design Week (ICFF) with their wooden keyboard (which rumor has it also comes in a DIY version, complete with a mini saw to separate the keys)... and a visit to their website is chalk full of other little wood beauties for the office.

TORTOISESHELL
Tortoiseshell glasses have always been my favorite (they go so well with blonde hair) and even though I pulled these from my bf's Details, who says they are just for men? {Image from May 2009 Details. Click to enlarge.}

NEW MATH

Craig Damrauer has been putting things into perspective quite simply with his new math... {View another great one here.}

GLOBERÍA
I am glad to know shops like this one actually exist. Wouldn't it be fun to get lost in this Barcelona globe shop? {Image from Marcos Esperón flickr}May 15, 2009
WEEK END

Have a great weekend everyone... I hope you have a great time whatever it is you get up to. Thought I'd leave you with a few beautiful shots by Camilla Akrans (her portfolio is pretty amazing) for British Elle.

Faceted little objects continue to pop up everywhere and I am a big fan... {Jean Pelle soap stones, tierra amethyst horn ring}

SAILOR CHIC

Through July 26, the Musée National de la Marine in Paris will be featuring an exhibit called Les Marins font la Mode – Sailor Chic in Paris. The exhibit explores the influence of sailor/maritime style on Paris fashion and features couture pieces by some seriously noteworthy designers. As if you needed another reason to travel to Paris.
GRID VASES

I am head over heels for Spanish artist/designer Jaime Hayon's Grid Vase Collection for Turkish design house Gaia and Gino. With a background in industrial design, Jaime has said that he combined influences of his life in London and Turkish elements in the design. Sounds good to me. {Available at Unica Home...be warned the price tag is not for the faint of heart!}

TRINA TURK FABRICS

Fashion maven Trina Turk has partnered with Schumacher to release a fun new line of indoor/outdoor fabrics that are perfect for summer. Fortunately they are just as playful as her clothes. My deck is looking a little bland right about now! View the collection here.

TOO HOT

I am thinking of my little city tonight as we are facing yet another raging forest fire that has already claimed some homes and has no end in sight. Luckily we are safe in my neck of the woods... but it is hot!! Even my little old fan like a jet engine isn't really helping when it's 80° at night. Thought I'd share some of my polaroids of the Courthouse (also safe) during cooler times.
ADVICE
I haven't come across these words of wisdom before...they seem so applicable to pretty much every situation. {By Fischli/Weiss. Via swissmiss a while ago.}

INSIDE OUT
Australian home and design magazine, Inside Out, has a great new blog where staff share the inside inside track. I am loving this wallpaper article from the May/June 09 issue (click to enlarge). I am just bummed that I haven't been able to find a copy in the US... especially when it comes with the cutest and most usable free gift I've ever seen with a magazine....
